Run specifically for the female goaltender looking to improve her game and to learn from the best female goaltenders in the game. Student-Teacher ratio is very low and groups will be limited to ensure that each goaltender receives individualized attention. As a goaltender on Canada's National Team for 10 years Sami Jo Small brings her expertise and knowledge, along will many qualified instructors, to provide young female goaltenders with mentors and role models in a fun environment.

Hockey School Itinerary

Note the camp is from Monday - Thursday. Two ice sessions per day + two off-ice sessions per day. Full days, approx 9am-4pm. Girls will be supervised all day and assistance in getting dressed in their hockey equipment will be available for the younger groups.

On Ice

Athletes will have two ice times a day. There will be a one hour "movement" session where we will work on the fundamentals of goaltending including skating, slides, angles, glove positioning and playing the puck. There will also be a two hour "Stations" session where goalies will be in groups of three rotating through unique stations for the entire two hours. Each station will have a dedicated goalie coach teaching the skill as well as shooters to execute the drill.

Off Ice

Athletes will be coached and taught by certified training professionals. Depending on the athletes age group, they will have several hockey off-ice training sessions where we will work on off-ice goaltending training as well as be introduced to other athletic activities. We feel it's very important hockey players be well rounded athletes.

You will not get more experienced instructors at any other female hockey school.

Sami Jo Small

Camp owner. Three time Olympic Goaltender. Sami Jo is a graduate of Stanford University and has her Advanced Coaching level with Hockey Canada. She currently plays for the Toronto Furies of the Canadian Women's Hockey League.

You can sign up for a hot lunch for $12.50 a day ($50 for the week) from the Puckz Pub located upstairs at Sixteen Mile Arena. The entire group will eat in the pub during lunch time, however, you can also choose instead to pack a healthy lunch. It is also recommended you send your athlete with snacks in order to help the athletes stay focused for the entire day.

Bursary Program

We want every girl to be able to have the experience of a summer hockey school regardless of cost. If cost is an issue for you, please send an email Sami Jo at In the email your daughter/the athlete must write a paragraph on why they love hockey. And the parent/guardian must indicate how much they are willing to pay. ($0-$full price)Sami Jo will assess the email and decide if the applicant is worthy of the bursary.

Billet Program

If we are successful in finding you a billet, there will be a $200 fee on top of registration. There is no guarantee we will be able to match athletes with billets, however, we will do our best.
